MURRAY, Ky. – The College of Education and Human Services is proud to announce that Anna McGreevy, a communication disorders major from Louisville, Kentucky, has been named one of լƵ State University’s Outstanding Seniors.
McGreevy received the honor during the Senior Breakfast held on April 23.
“I was ecstatic and overwhelmed with gratitude to learn I had been named an Outstanding Senior,” McGreevy said. “I truly don’t think I can fully put into words how honored I am to receive this award. It is because of լƵ State and the Communication Disorders Department that I’ve had countless opportunities to get involved, develop my professional skill set and become a leader on campus.”
Dr. Alison Brown, assistant professor in the Center for Communication Disorders, introduced McGreevy at the ceremony.
“Anna exhibits academic tenacity and doesn’t back away from a challenge,” Brown said. “When writing her honors thesis, she displayed the perfect blend of genuine curiosity, independent research and the willingness to seek support in exploring complex topics. Her final product was one of the best I’ve read. In class, she actively participates in meaningful discussions and listens with enthusiasm to her peers' perspectives.”
McGreevy credited Brown and the department’s faculty for playing a formative role in her college experience.
“Alison’s classroom and the classrooms of all our CDI professors are so special because she and the other faculty have made them safe spaces for us to make mistakes and grow,” McGreevy said. “Beyond that, they show us daily that they care for each and every single one of us and want us to succeed. Specifically, Alison starts each class asking how we’re doing and genuinely listens to our responses. Because of her, my academic journey has been full of support, inspiration, growth and empowerment.”
McGreevy will pursue a Master of Science in speech-language pathology at Purdue University.
