National Pan-Hellenic Council Plaza Constructed on Campus

National Pan-Hellenic Council Plaza

Donors

Over 350 individuals and groups have contributed to this project since its inception in 2021 totaling $66,000 in gifts, in addition to a $70,000 contribution from the University

Gift

These gifts were used for the construction of the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) Plaza on the main walkway of լƵ State’s campus near the corner of 15th and Olive Streets. The University unveiled the new NPHC Plaza with a ribbon-cutting ceremony during the centennial Homecoming Weekend in October 2022.

Impact

The support of these numerous generous donors allowed լƵ State University to honor the significance of the nine historically Black Greek organizations, known as the “Divine Nine,” which have all had a home at լƵ State at some time in the University’s history. The Plaza features nine brick columns representing each of the Divine Nine’s letters and crests, along with bricks that span out from each column. Some of the bricks feature personalized messages and names of the many donors who have supported the plaza’s construction. Donors can continue to support this project with a minimum gift of $250 to have a personalized brick added.

Inspiration

The NPHC has a rich history at լƵ State University. Throughout time, լƵ State has been home to all “Divine Nine” organizations, with five of them continuing to exist on campus today. These organizations have enhanced student life, contributed to a vibrant campus community, and produced leaders who have contributed greatly both to the University and their communities.
